It’s a bird! It’s a spy! It’s both
MONROVIA, CALIFORNIA
AeroVironment last Thursday released a video of the remotely controlled Nano Hummingbird, which it developed for the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
The artificial hummingbird uses only its two flapping wings for propulsion and control. In the video, an operator flew it outdoors and then through a doorway into a building.
The prototype has a wingspan of 16.5cm, weighs around 12.6g and has a body fairing shaped like a real hummingbird.
