Maximise connectivity with this pair
BY YEONG AH SENG
which can handle both 3G/3.5G and Wi-Fi is something many users would like to have.
However, while the HW553 is small and portable, the fact that it requires plug-in power means it is not truly mobile.
Aztech engineers would do well to come up with a batterypowered version, as it would likely sell like hot cakes, edging out those MiFi routers which have become very popular.
The HL110EP HomePlug is a more thought-through product. It is a powerline adapter with AC pass-through, which means that one more power socket can be freed for use.
It may not sound like a big deal, but for users with limited power sockets at home, this is a boon.
How much: $119 (HW553),
$75 (HL110EP)
