The Samsung EX1 features a 24mm, ultra-wide focal length Schneider lens with 3x optical zoom. This is wider than traditional compact cameras, and allows photographers to capture more of a beautiful landscape, or squeeze in large groups of people.

Additionally, the lens has a widest aperture setting of f/1.8, which will allow more light to pass through in low-light environments and create a shallow depth-of-field effect that blurs out the background while the subject is sharp ("bokeh").

Its three-inch, swivelling AMOLED screen allows photographers to frame their images precisely as they attempt overhead or low-to-the-ground shots, while modes like shutter-priority, aperture-priority and full manual give the user control over shutter speeds and depth of field.

For those who prefer ease of use, the EX1 offers Samsung's Smart Auto 2.0 (Still & Movie) scene recognition technology that will automatically select best settings for your digital stills, and video, too (640x380 at 30 frames per second in H.264 format).
