Headset that’s tucked away easily
BY YEONG AH SENG
The better-heeled would do well to look at Sennheiser’s latest travel headphones with Bluetooth and cable options. Those who have used noise-cancelling headsets on planes will appreciate the peace and quiet they can bring.
Sennheiser’s NoiseGuard 2.0 technology can reduce background noise by up to 23dB.
And there is a talk-through option should the user want to talk to someone without having to remove the headset.
There is a surround-sound function called SRS WOW HD, which is made for movie-soundtrack audio.
The Sennheiser headsets are foldable and can be tucked snugly into the small carrying case provided. PXC 360BT and MM550 are identical in specifications but MM 550 users can take phone calls.
Sennheiser’s pricing put these two headsets into the range of Bose’s Quiet Comfort series of noise-cancelling headphones.
How do they compare? Comfort-wise: They are about level on earcups, providing the same soft touch and good fit.
Sound-wise: The Bose have the edge – better detail, sound staging and bass. But, in terms of travelling convenience, the Sennheisers fold into a more transportable package.
How much: PXC 360BT ($699),
MM 550 ($729)
