Want eye-popping effects on your home TV screen? Try the slick 3D-ready Sony KDL-46NX710 (note that you'll need the 3D emitter and goggles, which come separately).

The 46-inch TV also boasts Bravia Internet Video and Bravia Internet Widgets. This means that while you're watching movies or playing video games, you can also receive Twitter updates or catch clips on YouTube, Style.com or BlipTV.

WiFi is integrated so all you need to do is hook up the TV to your wireless network at home to get connected to the Web.

Sony’s new e-readers lighter and cheaper

SONY has slimmed down its electronic readers and given them touchscreen controls. The three new versions of its “Reader” line also feature an improved screen with better clarity, the manufacturer said on Wednesday.

It expected to sell more of its lower-cost pocket version last holiday season, but sales of its higher-priced touchscreen version outsold the cheaper one. Prices for the new versions are lower than those of their predecessors when first launched.

The new pocket-version Reader with a 5-inch screen (above) retails for about US$179 (S$241). A larger 6-inch version costs US$229.

Sony is also offering a US$299.99 “Daily Edition”, which, like the Kindle, is wireless. It has 3G connectivity and a larger 7-inch screen.
