A SMARTPHONE with a projector – that is what the Galaxy Beam is all about.

The built-in Pico projector has a projection screen size of 5 to 50 inches.

But who would want a projector function in a phone, especially when the image projected has limited clarity and brightness?

Possibly a user who wants to share with friends photos and videos (and StarHub’s Mobile TV) on a bigger screen than the Galaxy Beam’s Super Amoled display, or a business user keen to make on-the-spot presentations.

As with mini projectors that have cropped up in recent times, don’t expect the brightness or sharpness of desktop projectors.

However, it is still a neat function to have on call.

Motorola Milestone XT smartphone

Motorola unveils a new Milestone

THE Motorola Milestone XT is an updated Milestone (last launched as a Starhub exclusive not too long ago).
The main upgrade is in the OS (Android 2.1 now). The phone also sports a high-definition (720p) camcorder
and direct connectivity with a HDTV via HDMI.

As this is a Starhub exclusive phone, it comes preloaded with Starhub Mobile TV, plus access to as many as 24 channels.

The phone boasts an 8-megapixel camera versus the 5-megapixel one on Samsung’s Galaxy S. The
new Milestone also features the latest Motorola handwriting- recognition software to enable input of simplified
forms of Chinese. The five Chinese-input methods include phonetic notation, handwriting, Cangjie, Pinyin
and Chinese strokes.

How much: Since it’s a Starhubexclusive phone, its price is tied to a data plan. The unbundled price is $988.
